One day seminar - opening of MIC Galway Parylene coating facility

Thursday 24th March 2011 Metal Improvement Company (MIC) - world leader in advanced surface treatments and technologies opens new high technology coating facility in Galway.
“The new operating facility in Galway will specialise in the application of Parylene PVD coatings typically used in the medical device, electronics and aerospace markets. The company has many years’ experience in providing this type of high technology coating through our existing Parylene Coating Services Division in Texas U.S.A. We are excited about our new facility and look forward to working closely with IDA Ireland, Irish Universities and the local business community as we expand our operation.”

Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, John Perry TD performed the official opening of the new facility for Metal Improvement Company in Galway. Minister Perry also announced that the company will initially create 20 technical manufacturing jobs, with a further 20-30 jobs planned by 2015. This operation is proceeding with the support of the Government through IDA Ireland. The new Galway operation will initially support the increasing demand for specialist technical coatings required by medical device companies in Europe.
Officiating at the opening Minister Perry said “I am delighted to open this facility for Metal Improvement Company, which is expanding its international business from Ireland to support growing customer demand and develop its business in the EMEA region. Ireland offers a great place from which to do business with its ease of access to the EU, an increasingly competitive environment and a highly skilled and talented workforce.”
Commenting on the announcement CEO, IDA Ireland Barry O’Leary said “Metal Improvement Company is a true global pioneer in materials coatings and treatments and will greatly add to the medical device infrastructure already operating from Ireland, by offering a very specialised and technically advanced service to the EMEA market.”
